Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply the decimal by 100 (equivalently, move the decimal point two places to the right) and add the % symbol. For example, 0.47 × 100 = 47%.
"Percent" means "per hundred." Multiplying by 100 expresses the decimal as a number of hundredths, which is exactly what a percent represents.
Pad with zeros. For example, 0.3 → 0.30 → move point two places → 30%. For 0.007 → 0.700 → 0.70 → still needs one more place → 0.7%.
